Minutes

Performance presented for SITIO (ArtBo section), Bogotá, CO. 2015

View during one phone call.

Performance that involved a cellphone, the audience of ArtBo (International Art Fair of Bogotá), and a hired person wearing a vest with the word “Minutos”. Appropriating the function of the “minute man/woman” (person who sells phone calls in the streets), the principal intention was to create a verbal dialogue within the visiting audience through several incoming calls from Brussels, BE (place where Carlos Alfonso was living at that time). In this case the calls were not sold but given for free and used the assistant (person with vest) as a medium to bridge the artist with the public. Selected randomly, the short conversations were a plot for self recognition where the artist asked for a fast and detailed description of the person’s face while he was drawing simultaneously. The outcome was 187 spoken portraits drawn on paper and a printed publication with a selection of these. For more information about the publication please follow this link.
